Who are the Climeworks Pioneers?
Since 2019, Climeworks has empowered individuals and organizations to take carbon removal action through the Climeworks Pioneers program. This initiative makes carbon removal tangible, accessible, and affordable as an online service for everyone.
Together, Climeworks Pioneers—including individuals, small and medium-sized enterprises, and larger companies ordering small volumes—have already purchased thousands of tons of CO₂ to be removed from the air.

How the portfolios work
All carbon removal solutions, suppliers, and projects Climeworks works with are verified and/or certified by internationally recognized standards (e.g., Puro, Isometric).
When you make a purchase, you’ll receive an order confirmation, an invoice, and can track the details of your order in an online dashboard. Carbon removal is delivered within 7 years following the year of purchase. Once completed, you'll receive a delivery note with all relevant details, including supplier information.

I purchase Climeworks carbon removal simply as a mother of a child, to give him an eternal gift. Therefore, the purchases have been made under his name, and the first purchase was on his birthday in 2021. One of the wishes that any parent would think of for their children is for them to always be in good health and live in a favorable environment, and this is one thing I can do for him and the future generation.

It seemed so obvious! The climate challenge we have cannot be attached to any one approach, we need many. My own personal journey has been about reducing my footprint in terms of consumption, installing solar panels, using less direct electricity, and offsetting what I am still generating. In the wider world, reducing consumption is a piece, cleaner generation is a piece and carbon removal MUST be a piece as well. I became a Climeworks Pioneer in 2022 for two reasons: remove CO₂ from my business flights and remove CO₂ from my personal travel. In the past, I did a lot of flying and the climate impact from all this had become a blind spot for me. All the other ways I was trying to live a climate-friendly lifestyle were basically getting blown up due to all the flying I was doing. I didn't want to have that kind of negative climate impact anymore. I had done carbon offsets for a few years prior to 2022 but had grown unhappy with offsets. So, I reduced the amount of flying I was doing but still had to fly occasionally. I wanted to neutralize the flight emissions I did produce, do something more permanent, that had real science behind it, and that had auditable accountability. Climeworks is where it's at.
